Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm injection (ICSI)

Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm injection (ICSI) is a process used to treat severe forms of male infertility. It is used to enhance the fertilization stage of in vitro fertilization (IVF). This procedure involves the direct injection of a single sperm into the center of each egg obtained from in vitro fertilization (IVF). This treatment ensures that the sperm successfully penetrates the egg and embryonic growth begins.

ICSI can help to solve infertility in male who has the following conditions

⤍   Severe abnormalities of sperm

⤍   Azoospermia - where there is no sperm found in the male's ejaculation

⤍   Sperm failed to fertilize eggs in previous IVF cycles

⤍   Congenital or acquired absence or obstructions of the ejaculatory ducts

⤍   Unsuccessful vasectomy reversals

⤍   Spinal cord injuries or pituitary deficiencies

ICSI is also used to treat infertility in woman who produces a low number of eggs, low quality eggs, or both. Generally, couples opt for ICSI after in vitro fertilization treatment becomes unsuccessful. ICSI is considered to be a safe and most effective treatment as it is used with IVF and high quality eggs.
